4-H Youth Development
The 4-H/Youth Development program creates opportunities and supportive environments for youth and adults to become capable, competent and caring citizens. The emphasis is on "hands-on" learning that focuses on the youth's area of interest. Programs are conducted with the help of parents, adult volunteer leaders and professional staff who organize educational experiences. Youth participate in organized 4-H clubs, special interest and project groups, 4-H school enrichment programs, 4-H camp and other special activities.

Our camp dates are June 12th-15th. We camp at J.M. Feltner Camp near London, KY. Youth ages 9-13 are eligible to attend. Adult and teen leaders from McCreary County will be accompanying participants as well as the County Extension Agents. Participants will travel by bus to and from camp.
While at camp the kids participate in a variety of activities including swimming, boating, nature, archery, riflery, crafts and nature study. There are sports, games, dances and special educational programs. There will be carnivals or water Olympics or field games. At night your child will stay in a cabin with other children his/her age. The cabins house from 12 to 20 young people and 2 to 4 adults. Campers will be sleeping on a bunk bed, and will be supervised by adult leaders who have passed criminal background checks, teen volunteers and county 4-H staff. There will also be a CampEMT on duty at all times to supervise any health needs.
The camp fee of $186.00 covers transportation, lodging, 3 nutritionally balanced meals and 1 snack each day, most of the classes, and a T-shirt. Please put size of shirt on the top of the camp application. Some classes charge a small fee for materials but you will know that before the child goes to camp.
We will need a $50.00 deposit when you return this application packet along with proof of insurance and immunization record. We do have some partial scholarship funds available to the first 30 children who submit all required forms and documents. These funds would bring the camp fee to $125.00. All camp forms are due by May 31st. This will ensure that your child receives a t-shirt. We are located at the original building of the McCreary Center of the Somerset Community College. Do this as quickly as possible since space is limited. If you need more information please feel free to contact us. Check out the Kentucky 4-H campwebpage for some exciting pictures & to see what other campers had to say about camp. www.ca.uky.edu/agcollege/4h/CAMP/index.htm.
